About the Event
Navigating a new diagnosis can be overwhelming and isolating. The New Parent Support Group is designed to provide a confidential and welcoming environment for parents and caregivers to share their experiences, ask questions, and build a network of support with others who understand the journey.
Facilitated by experienced MEWAYZ counselors and peer mentors, each session focuses on a specific theme while allowing ample time for open discussion. Topics include:
- check_circle Understanding Diagnosis: Learn about your child's diagnosis and developmental milestones.
- check_circle School System Navigation: Understanding Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and school resources.
- check_circle State Resources: Accessing funding, healthcare benefits, and support services.
- check_circle Family Balance: Strategies for balancing family life, self-care, and advocacy.
Light refreshments will be provided. Childcare is available in an adjacent room with certified staff upon request (please indicate when registering).
