New Parent Support Group

Starting a caregiving journey can be overwhelming and isolating. The New Parent Support Group is designed to provide a confidential and welcoming environment for parents and caregivers in Uyo to share experiences, ask questions, and build a network of mutual support with others who understand.

Facilitated by experienced MEWAYZ counselors and peer mentors, each session focuses on a specific theme while allowing ample time for open discussion. Topics include:

• check_circle Understanding Your Situation: Make sense of your family's caregiving needs and what support is available to you.
• check_circle Educational Support: Understanding available school resources and support options for your child in Akwa Ibom State.
• check_circle Community Resources: How to access welfare programmes, NGO support, and community health services in Nigeria.
• check_circle Family Balance: Strategies for balancing family life, self-care, and advocacy.

Light refreshments will be provided. Childcare is available in an adjacent room with certified staff upon request (please indicate when registering).
